BATTLESTAR GALACTICA - ZAREK 01 p16 inked ARIES MENDOZA
Artist Aries Mendoza inked this issue of this issue of Battlestar Galactica - Zarek over scans of pencils by Adriano Batista!
This artwork, measuring approximately 11" x 17", is illustrated in original inks over scans of pencils on standard weight comic art illustration board.
Tom Zarek was a political activist for more than 30 years before the fall of the Twelve Colonies. He was incarcerated for destroying a government building on the planet Sagittaron. He was eventually transferred to the FTL prison ship Astral Queen, and under consideration for parole, when the Cylons attacked and destroyed the colonies. This is his story.
This page depicts Tom Zarek and his mother, Karen, learning that the late Jerome had gotten a life insurance policy instead of a pay raise that enabled widow and son to move to Perseus City, where Tom attends a new school!
NOTE: This issue was pencilled by Adriano Batista, and scans of the pencils were sent to Aries Mendoza to ink. A last-minute decision by the publisher resulted in the book being printed directly from the pencilled pages, which exist separately. The pages auctioned HERE are the scanned pencils with the original inks by Mendoza. This is the only way for anyone to see the inked version of the story! Also, Mendoza uses white out both in minor corrections and for special effects throughout the story. All pages are somewhat worn, with minor creasing on some pages. Please keep this firmly in mind before buying!
